Baldwinsville singer debuts on America's Got Talent: Matt's Memo
Tonight Julia Goodwin, a 15 year old singer from Baldwinsville, will appear on NBC's summer hit "America's Got Talent". This may be Julia's national television debut, but it is not her first big break. A year ago she won the prestigious prize of best singer at The Great American Songbook High School Vocal Competition created by Michael Feinstein.
That top prize made her the Youth Ambassador of the Great American Songbook. She has performed with Michael Feinstein. She has played the Birdland jazz club in New York City. She even sang the National Anthem at an NFL football game in Indianapolis. Of course, the National Anthem is old hat for Julia as the first big arena she played was Syracuse's own Carrier Dome six years ago.
Julia's talent has been apparent for many years, but it's her continued growth and development as a musician and artist that is exciting to witness. Her YouTube channel tracks her progress from the school stage in Baldwinsville through some of the prestigious venues she has played over the past year. Several of the tracks include duets with her sister Sara. They make quite a duo.
Tonight during the show which begins at 8:00 pm Julia performs in front of the likes of Howard Stern, Howie Mandel and Heidi Klum. Tune in and cheer her on.
