Local cancer patient wins Wheels 4 Hope car

It TMs always a great thing when folks come together to help those in need, and that is exactly what the great folks at NAPA Auto Car Centers in Central New York have been doing for the past few months with their Wheels 4 Hope contest.

The NAPA Business Development Group, their Auto Care Centers and many other caring individuals all agreed to refurbish a 2001 Chevy Malibu automobile and make it a thing of beauty. The idea was have folks across central New York log onto our website and nominate somebody to win this great vehicle, but the most important thing to say WHY the person whey nominate deserve the vehicle.

Hundreds upon hundreds of people logged onto and wrote nice essays about folks, but only one could be chosen as the winner and the most deserving.

I was fortunate enough to MC the event at NAPA Auto Car Centers Headquarters in Syracuse Wednesday morning and meet all the great folks involved, and introduce the winner to our TV audience.

The winner was Patty Geremia of Syracuse. What a sweet person Patty is! She was so, so thankful for winning the vehicle. In short, Patty has gone through several rounds of chemotherapy recently for cancer, and her treatment continues. Patty TMs husband has Parkinson's disease. Both of their vehicles were so old they were not safe to drive anymore.

Obviously Patty, her husband and family are going through some very difficult times. Patty was nominated by her sister-in-law. Upon winning, Patty was quick to thank God, her sister in law, NAPA, her friends and family and CNY Central. She is a sweet woman!

The car could not have been given to a better, more deserving person and we at CNY Central, and me in particular, were proud to be a part of it.
