Seniors often give back to the community by volunteering, and now there's a call to help recognize their efforts.
Home Instead Senior Care, an eldercare outreach company with a franchise based in DeWitt, sponsors a national award to recognize those services.
The New York state winner (along with those in other states) would get a $500 donation to the non-profit charity of choice. the national winner would get a $5,000 donation.
Until March 1, you can nominate a senior for recognition of unpaid community service. The nominee must be over 65, and must contribute at least 15 hours a month. Nominations are online at www.salutetoseniorservice.com
