Good News: $18,000 raised for women's heart disease, 4 female scientists honored
Some of the Good News happening in Central New York on September 23rd:
A new Marriott in downtown Syracuse has raised more than $18,000 to fight women's heart disease . The American Heart Association hosted a "Red Hot. Red Heart." event which included a night out with cocktails, good food and an auction with some local businesses. All of the money raised will help pay for life saving research and medical education.
TripAdvisor recently named the top wine tours in the country and one from Central New York made the list: Experience! The Finger Lake Ithaca Tours rounded out the top ten. The wine tours show people the best attractions in the Ithaca area including the waterfalls, gorges, wineries and breweries
Four female scientists from across the country will be honored at a "Woman in Science" event in Syracuse next month including a SUNY ESF professor. The scientists will be awarded the Fine Stone Environmental Award which honors those who make advances for environmental issues. The scientists will be recognized at a ceremony at SUNY ESF in late October.
