      14-year-old caught breaking into Syracuse home

      A 14-year-old has been arrested in connection to a burglary at 106 Claire Road, Syracuse Police say.

      Officers were called to the scene at about 6:35 pm Thursday. When the officer arrived, a witness directed him to the backyard, where a wooden gate was found open.

      The officer spotted two teens entering the basement at 106 Claire Road, one of them broke a window in order to gain access.

      The officer ordered the two to get on the ground, and one suspect complied while the other took off, jumped a fence, and ran toward East Genesee Street.

      The same two teens were witnessed casing homes on Crawford Avenue earlier that day.

      The 14-year-old suspect was released to his mother and given an appearance ticket. He is due to appear in Onondaga County Family Court at a later date. The other suspect is still at large.
