15-year-old charged after large fight, stabbing in Syracuse

A 15-year-old faces charges after a stabbing Wednesday night in Syracuse.

Around 5:30 p.m., Syracuse Police were on patrol when they saw a large fight involving around 15 to 20 teenagers on the 1300 block of Midland Ave. in Syracuse.

When officers approached the group, the teenagers ran away, except for one who had been assaulted.

Police spoke with the victim, an 18-year-old man, who had been stabbed during the fight.

The victim told police he was walking on Midland Ave. when he was attacked by the group of teenagers for no reason.

He was transported to Upstate Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

During the investigation, police talked to people that were in the area when the assault happened and got a description of the suspect.

Police found and detained a 15-year-old on the 300 block of West Beard Ave. who matched the description of the suspect.

Officers also found a knife near where the suspect was taken into custody.

The 15-year-old suspect is charged with felony Assault in the Second Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Fourth Degree, which is a misdemeanor.

He was turned over to his parents and will have to appear in Family Court to answer the charges.
