THE NUMBERS ARE IN! It was yet another record breaking CANINE CARNIVAL with Onondaga County Parks estimating close to 15,000 people attending. This year's Canine Carnival included 50 animal rescue organizations, most in New York State but some from as far away as Philadelphia. Each rescue set up booths with pets for adoption and another 50 vendors of animal goods and services from across the northeast.
The best news is most animals looking for a home got one, including three horses up for adoption! Canine Carnival is now the largest animal rescue event in New York State, and its amazing growth continues.
The first Canine Carnival in 2010 was held at the Wegmanâ??s Good Dog Park in Liverpool and featured just over 20 rescues and vendors with attendance of about 1,400 people. In four short years it has grown to just over 100 rescues and vendors with, as stated, nearly 15,000 attendance.
Thanks to our presenting sponsors, Wegmans. Also, thanks to our other sponsors CNYcentral, Liverpool Village Animal Hospital, C&S Companies, Veterinary Medical Center of CNY and Onondaga County Parks. A big thanks also goes out to all vendors, rescues, volunteers and all who kindly donated items, and of course to all who attended. Mark your calendars now for August 2014.
Canine Carnival raises money for the Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation, a non profit 501c3 organization, which donates money to Central NY animal rescues and welfares. PMAWF was founded by Wayne Mahar in 2008 in honor of his Mother who loved animals, passing away in 2007. To date, PMAWF has given out over $40,000.
