2013 State Fair theme announced, submitted by Syracuse woman

New York State Fair revealed the highly anticipated theme of the 2013 State Fair - Sharing the Bounty and Pride of NY.

The State Agriculture Commissioner Darrel Aubertine announced Tuesday that "Sharing the Bounty and Pride of NY" was selected as the theme of the 2013 Great New York State Fair.

After more than

500 suggestions

were submitted from across the state, 10 finalists were selected by
State Fair Director Tom Ryan and Aubertine, and New Yorkers voted for their favorite theme.

The winning theme, â??Sharing the Bounty and Pride of NY,â?? was submitted from Kathy Denman, of Syracuse.

"This was truly a statewide contest with nearly every region of the state submitting themes, voting and most importantly, making sure their voices were heard," said Aubertine. "Our goal is to get more New Yorkers involved in this Fair â?? not only during the 12 day extravaganza, but throughout the year. With this contest, we did just that. In the end, New Yorkers made a super pick for this yearâ??s theme."

The theme will be featured in the State Fairâ??s marketing and public relations campaign this year, says Aubertine.

The 2013 Great New York State Fair will run from August 22 until September 2, 2013 at the State Fairgrounds in Syracuse.
