3 people found dead have ties to SUNY Geneseo
Geneseo, N.Y. - Police say 3 people with ties to SUNY Geneseo were found dead at a house on Wadsworth Street in Geneseo near the college's campus.
Kelsey Annese, 21, of Webster, Matthew G. Hutchinson, 24, of Vancouver and Colin Kingston, 24, of Geneseo were discovered deceased in the house. On its Facebook page SUNY Geneseo says two of the deceased are current students of the college and the third is a former student.
Annese was a senior and a member of the college's women's basketball team, majoring in Education/Spanish and minoring in Psychology. She lived in the home on Wadsworth St., according to police.
Hutchinson was a senior and a member of the college's hockey team, all while also volunteering at the Geneseo Volunteer Fire Department. He was studying Geography while minoring in Business Studies.
Kingston lived in Geneseo and had previously attended SUNY Geneseo.
All three were found after officers received a call around 6 a.m. Sunday morning to a report that "something had happened."
The cause of death has not been revealed, but police say a knife was found at the scene. Geneseo police say one of the deceased may be the perpetrator, but say it's too early in the investigation to say who.
The Livingston County Sheriff's Office, the Geneseo Police Department, the New York State Police, the Livingston County District Attorney's Office and SUNY University Police Department are investigating.
SUNY Geneseo's website says classes will be in session as scheduled Tuesday, and a remembrance is being organized to remember those who have died. Counseling is also being offered to students, faculty and staff who have been impacted by the incident.
