$31,000 IN DONATIONS TO LOCAL ANIMAL WELFARE ORGANIZATIONS
One of the largest private donations for animals in CN
The success of the fourth annual Canine Carnival, combined with great support from sponsors and attendees, has ensured that more than forty CNY animal welfare organizations receive donations for the holidays. More than $31,000 will be donated to forty three local animal welfares and rescues by Thanksgiving. Wayne Mahar thanks each organization for "doing the tough work, day in and day out of caring for our animal friends".
A record crowd of 15,000 attended this year's Canine Carnival with more than 100 rescues and vendors. According to Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation President Wayne Mahar, "Itâ??s the success and growth of the Foundationâ??s primary event, great sponsors and support from so many that enables us to donate as much as we are. The growth of Canine Carnival, and in turn, the monies PMAWF has been able to donate is dramatic. We started with 800 people attending and donating $1200 just four years ago, and now 15,000 attending with donations of more than $31,000."
The animal welfare organizations receiving donations includes locally the CNY SPCA and Humane Association of CNY with other rescues from the Mohawk Valley, CNY and the Finger Lakes.
Sponsors include Wegmans, Liverpool Village Animal Hospital, Veterinary Medical Center of CNY, C&S Companies and CNYcentral.
The next event will be the Syracuse CRUNCH and PMAWF annual Pucks for Paws hockey game on Saturday March 29th, 2014 at the War Memorial, Syracuse, where fans bring their dogs to the game. Call the CRUNCH at 315 473-4444 if you'd like to be involved as a rescue, sponsor or fan.
