Amber Alert cancelled: children found
Wed, 19 Aug 2009 02:43:17 GMT —
Around 2:30 Wednesday morning, New York State Police cancelled an Amber Alert for two children. They say 5-year-old Timothy Scott Brown and 3-year-old Carmella Joy Brown (descriptions below) were found unharmed in Virginia. According to police, the person responsible is now in custody.
The alert was issued last night by New Hartford Police, after the children were abducted from their father in Chadwicks, Oneida County.
Police say the children's mother, Christin Joy Brown, forcibly entered the home at 3347 Church Street just before 7:00 on Tuesday evening, and forcibly took the children and then fled, with an unknown man, in a silver car with Texas license plates. Police say she has a history of violent tendencies, drug abuse, mental health issues, and she may have been armed. The car was last seen on Grange Road, possibly heading for the state of Texas.
We're expecting to learn more this morning, as police are holding a news conference at 10:30am at the New Hartford Police Department. Stay with Action News and CNYCentral.com for the very latest.
