American Idol alumni to sing and talk with fans at Midway Music Concert Series

Three American Idol stars are slated to sing, and answer questions from fans as part of the free Midway Music Series at the New York State Fair this August.

Diana DeGarmo, Ace Young, and Blake Lewis will perform Tuesday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m.

DeGarmo was the runner-up of the 2004 season, finishing second to Fantasia Barrino. Since then, she's ventured into a career of musical theatre and television acting, appearing in "Hairspray" and "Hair" on Broadway, and starring in television's "The Young and the Restless."

During her "Hair" run, DeGarmo fell in love with fellow American Idol alum, Ace Young. Young, who finished in the top 10 in American Idol Season 5, proposed to DeGarmo live during the 2012 season finale.

The newlyweds are working on an album of original duets and host the entertainment news show, "Planet 360" on TV Guide.

Blake Lewis was the runner-up during season 6, finishing second to Jordin Sparks. His beat-boxing talents have led to hits on the Top 40 and Top 100 singles charts. His new single, "Your Touch" is the soundtrack to Microsoft's "Explorer Touch" commercial ad campaign.

After their performances, the Idol Alumni will sit down for a question and answer session, with a meet-and-greet session with fans to follow.

"American Pickers" stars Frank Fritz and Danielle Colby Cushman will also grace the Midway stage, appraising some of your items. Up-and-coming rapper Jake Miller, local band New Day, and Grateful Dead and Bon Jovi tribute bands are also scheduled to perform as part of the free music series.

The fair runs August 22 through September 2. This year the theme is "Sharing the Bounty and Pride of New York."
