Armed and Dangerous: Man involved in head-on crash with Ithaca Chief is at large, could have a gun

The search continues for Christopher Rundt, the man who was involved in a head-on crash with the Ithaca Police Chief on June 12. Rundt fled from the scene of the crash, where a bottle of rum was found in his vehicle.

Police are now saying Rundt has a handgun and should be considered armed and dangerous.

The investigation showed that Rundt stole a vehicle in Trumansburg sometime in the last few days. The vehicle was later recovered in Manchester, Ontario County.

Officers say Rundt then stole a vehicle in Manchester, which had a .357 magnum revolver and a police ID from a department in Ontario County.

The vehicle is described as a 2011 Jeep Liberty, green with NY plate number GJF8356.

Police say Rundt could also be accompanied by Ashley Woodward, who was his passenger in the head-on crash with the Ithaca Police Chief. Rundt is a known IV drug user and a parolee, according to investigators.
