The motive for last Sunday's shooting of an SU Law School Grad at an upscale New Jersey mall, was apparently the theft of his Range Rover.

At a Saturday morning news conference in Morrisville, Essex County Acting County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray said "It appears to us that the target of this was the vehicle that they type of vehicle was what caused the individual who have been charged to focus on this car and it was the car and not the persons that were the target of this crime."

Dustin Friedland, a 30 year old graduate of SU's College of Law, was shot in the head as he apparently tried to shield his wife from four attackers as they were leaving the Short Hills Mall. The suspects, 32-year old Basim Henry, 31 year old Karif Ford, 33 year old Kevin Roberts and 29 year old Hanif Thompson, all of New Jersey. Each is being held on 2-million dollars bail, charged with murder, felony murder, carjacking, conspiracy to commit carjacking, possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for unlawful purpose.
