Aspen Athletic Club in DeWitt closing

Customers of the Aspen Athletic Club in DeWitt are learning of the decision to suddenly close the facility. The gym will close for good on October 15. The other four Aspen locations in Central New York are staying open.

Those who have a membership at the Aspen location at 6800 East Genesee Street are being given until October 10 to make a decision about how they would like to proceed. The person who answered the phone at the gym Friday evening indicated customers would be given until October 10 to decide if they would like to cancel their memberships, or keep them active and use the other locations in Cicero, Liverpool, downtown Syracuse or Fairmount. A membership that is kept active will be able to be used at the other locations.

The person who answered the phone at Aspen did not have information about why the Dewitt location was closing. He did indicate the gym has posted signs and is speaking with customers one-on-one about the pending closing. No reason was given for the decision.

In December of 2012, the location was taken over by Aspen Athletic. The Genesee Street facility was operating as a â??Fitness Forumâ?? prior to that.
