A construction worker has been taken to the hospital after he fell three stories at a work site Tuesday morning.
Auburn Fire Chief Ed Sherman tells CNY Central that around 8:00 a.m. rescue crews were called to a construction site on Standart Avenue, near Grant Avenue. Sherman says a 29-year-old man fell off of a third-floor balcony of a housing complex that is under construction and landed in a patch of mud on the ground below.
Sherman says the man, whose name has not been released, was airlifted by Mercy Flight to Upstate University Hospital in Syracuse with what he called â??traumaticâ?? injuries. However, Sherman added that the injuries are non-life threatening and the man was in stable condition. Officials say the mud softened the fall.
Workers at the site are building a $10 million senior apartment facility. No word on what caused the accident.
