Auburn firefighters protest possible cuts
More than 200 picketers turned out at Auburn City Hall Tuesday protesting planned cuts to the fire and police departments.
The city is facing a $1.7 million budget deficit, but the picketers say the jobs are being sacrificed because of bad business decisions.
Auburn Mayor Michael Quill, a former Auburn fire chief, says he hopes the cuts to safety staff do not happen.
Auburn City Council is in special session Tuesday night to decide the budget and many of the picketers plan to talk about their concerns. A final vote will be take on Thursday.
