Auburn man arrested after investigation into burglary of disabled woman's apartment

An Auburn man was arrested after an investigation into the burglary of a disabled womanâ??s apartment.

On April 13, Auburn Police received a call for a reported larceny at the Salvation Army store on East Genesee Street. The victim reported that her wallet, apartment keys and cell phone had been taken from her wheel chair, which she is confined to, sometime after being helped down the stairs by people heading to a local soup kitchen. Officers found some of the stolen items in the nearby area after a search.

The victim returned home to find the door open and several things missing, including prescription medications.

Investigators identified a suspect based on surveillance footage.

On May 9, police arrested 38-year-old Clyde G. Bennett III and charged him with burglary, criminal possession of stolen property and petit larceny.
