Dog owners in Auburn like Marla Connelly say finding a place where your dog can meet other dogs and be off leash is a problem.
"It really is because there is no place to go. The closest parks are an hour away. That's a long drive," she says.
The Cayuga County Legislature gave permission for a dog park to be built in Emerson Park 3 years ago, and dog owners have been trying to raise the funds ever since.
For the third year in a row, Auburn is a finalist in PetSafe's "Bark for Your Park" online contest, which will award $100,000 dollars toward a new dog park to the city with the most online votes by the end of the month.
Connelly says dog owners in Auburn hope the third time for the contest will be a charm.
"You can vote every single day. Once on Facebook and once on their home page petsafe.net," she says. To cast your vote for the Auburn Dog Park, click here.
