Auburn Police have released the names of the two officers involved in deadly shooting over the weekend.

Officer Donald Laraway, who has more than 10 years of experience on the police force, discharged his gun. Officer Jared Georgi, who was also on the scene, is a 14 year veteran of the department.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday at a home at 11 Barber Street in Auburn.

Police say Teresa Harris called 911 saying her estranged husband was trying to break into her apartment. Police say 45-year-old Jeffrey Harris was shouting "I have a gun. I'm going to kill you. I'm going to shoot. You better be ready." That's when one of the officers tasered Harris, but it did not have an effect on him. Police say Harris then started coming toward them in a threatening manner while holding a meat cleaver.

At that point, Officer Laraway shot Harris four times, but he kept coming him. The officer then kicked Harris to the ground and was able to handcuff him. Harris later died on the scene.

Officers Laraway and Georgi have been placed on administrative leave.

Police are still waiting on the medical examiner's report to see if Jeffrey Harris had drugs or alcohol in his system.
