Auburn Police are investigating an attempted armed robbery.
It happened around 5:38 a.m. Saturday at the McDonalds at 357 Genesee Street.
Police say the suspect drove up to the drive thru window, threatened an employee with a handgun and demanded money. The employee ran away from the window and the suspect took off without getting any money.
Police learned a car had been stolen minutes earlier from the parking lot of the Kwik Fill gas station at 302 Genesee Street. The car was left running with the keys in the ignition. It was later found abandoned on Turnpike Rd. and Rt. 5 in the Town of Aurelius. Police aren't sure if the incidents are related.
The suspect is described as a white man wearing a hooded sweatshirt and orange bandana over the lower portion of his face.
Police want to remind you not to leave your car running and unoccupied in public parking lots or streets. It is a traffic violation and you could be ticketed.
At this time, no tickets have been issued and the investigation is continuing.
Anyone with information is asked to call Detective Christopher Coopper at (315) 255-4706.
