Augusta man hospitalized, charged with DWI after hitting tree

An Town of Augusta man who hit a tree after driving off the shoulder of a roadway is being charged with DWI.

Police say 38-year-old John Dincik failed to negotiate a curve and drove off of North Road. A neighbor that heard the crash called 911. Oriskany Falls Fire Department and Ambulance responded and treated Dincik for his injuries and transported him to St. Elizabeth Hospital. Deputies continued the investigation and determined that speed and alcohol were contributing factors in the crash.

Dincik is charged with failure to reduce speed at a curve, failure to keep right, refusing to submit to a breath screening device and DWI.
