Authorities looking for missing 13-year-old hunter in Town of North Norwich

The Chenango County Sheriff's Office is currently searching for a missing 13-year-old hunter in the Town of North Norwich.

The Sheriff's Office 911 Center received a report shortly after 6pm on Sunday from the teen's father, saying that the two had become separated while hunting in the area of Whaupanaucua and Ripple Roads in the Town of North Norwich.

The two are from outside the area, but authorities say they are familiar with the woods they were hunting.

The Sheriff's Office is receiving assistance from the Chenango County Fire Coordinator's Office, Chenango County Search Team, Norwich Fire Department, LifeNet helicopter and the New York State Forest Rangers.

Authorities say the general public is asked to NOT go into the woods to attempt to assists, but anyone living in the area is asked to call the Sheriff's Office if someone knocks on their door.
