Baldwinsville crash victims identified

Update at 10:10 am:

Police have identified the four people hurt in a serious car crash Sunday night.

It happened around 7:30 pm on Village Boulevard North in the Town of Van Buren.

State police say Robert Smallwood, 22, of 7111 VanBuren road was traveling southwest on Village Boulevard when he lost control, slamming into a tree on the east shoulder of the road. Smallwood was airlifted to University Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.

Three other passengers in the car were taken to University Hospital as well. Alexis Trapp, 18, is listed in critical condition. Kelly Nolan, 21, is listed in serious condition. Brandon Hare, 19 is listed in fair condition.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation.


A car crash in Baldwinsville has sent four young people to the hospital.

State police say the 22-year-old driver was trapped in the Subaru after hitting a tree on Village Boulevard North. The driver was airlifted to University Hospital in critical condition. The three other passengers were taken to University Hospital by ambulance. Police say the passenger in the front seat suffered severe injuries, and the two people in the back seat had non life-threatening injuries.

"I was freaked out," said Katelyn Brown who witnessed the accident. "The car was speeding around the corner, it was on it's driver side wheels only," said Brown. "Then it smashed into the tree."

"I heard screeching tires and screeching tires again, then a huge crash," said Matthew Serio who lives across the street. "I ran across the road looking to see what happened, a girl was already on 911. The EMS guy pulled out one of the passengers, put him on the ground, stabilized him and then looked inside the vehicle to see what kind of shape the driver and passenger were in."

Police are not releasing the names of the victims, or the cause of the crash, as the investigation is ongoing.
