It's the 10th annual Battle of the High School Bands at DeWitt's Jewish Community Center, and the bands are in, but now organizers are looking for teen volunteers to help run the event, and of course, the audience.
Ilario Huober, the teen services coordinator at the Jewish Community Center, says several changes this year will make the competition more 'relevant'---the JCC donates back to the school for each audience member who comes, and this year the moneys will go directly to music departments, to further musicians' education.
The winning band gets a cash prixe, a chance to perform on local radio, and a recording session at a local studio. A group from Liverpool High School is the defending champion.
And, this year, ther's also VIP viewing from above--Huober says that area would be 'perfect' for parents and adults who want to watch it all.
The Battle of the Bands is Saturday, January 14 starting at 7pm at the Jewish Community Center. Information at 445-2360
