Become a CNY Central Facebook fan and help two local pet charities

CNY Central is challenging its viewers, readers and followers to click ~LIKE TM to benefit two wonderful charities that benefit the animals of Central New York.

CNY Central President and CEO Chris Geiger is offering a donation of $1,000 to both the Shamrock Animal Fund and Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation if we can reach 15,000 Facebook fans by the end of May. We TMre calling this the Facebook Charity Challenge " Count Up to 15,000.

Here TMs what you need to do to help these two charities and become part of the CNY Central family on Facebook. Go to our CNY Central page on Facebook and click ~LIKE TM. Then start joining the discussions we have every day on key stories. You can also participate in our Facebook Story of the Day. The more you participate and share links to our Facebook page and, the more Facebook fans will come to our page.

The Shamrock Animal Fund was co-founded by news anchor Matt Mulcahy and his wife Jamie Pomilio-Mulcahy. The Shamrock Animal Fund helps pay for the animal care for animals in need for people with demonstrated financial need. Chief Meteorologist Wayne Mahar founded the Priscilla Mahar Animal Welfare Foundation in memory of his mother. Wayne TMs foundation raises money and donates to various deserving animal welfare associations across Central New York.

The Facebook Charity Challenge " Count Up to 15,000 begins right away. We will update the count for you every newscast through the end of May. Tell all your Facebook friends about the charitable reward waiting when we hit 15,000 fans. When began the challenge on Tuesday afternoon, we had just surpassed the 6,000 fan mark. As of 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday we are at 6,540 fans. We are counting on your help to hit our ambitious goal and help the animals of Central New York.
