Body found in wooded area near Currier Plastics in Auburn

A body was found Monday afternoon in Auburn, near Currier Plastics off Columbus Street.

Auburn police say a passerby discovered the body floating face down in a creek around 1:30 p.m. Monday while looking for recyclable cans in the brush surrounding the creek.

Police say the man was pronounced dead at the scene and now investigating the cause of death. Right now it doesn't appear to be suspicious but investigators are waiting for autopsy results from the Onondaga County Medical Examiner's Office before making a final determination.

The name of the deceased is being held until next of kin can be notified.

Police are asking anyone with information about the incident or who may have witnessed someone entering the overgrown creek area in the 100 block of Columbus Street to contact the police department.
