Boy critical after accident at Farm Days in Seneca Falls

An 8-year-old boy is in critical condition after he was crushed under a heavy piece of farming equipment at the Empire Farm Days farm show in Seneca County.

It happened around 3 o'clock Thursday afternoon.

According to sheriff's deputies, a vendor was demonstrating how to use a hoof-trimming machine when the machine was accidentally lowered. The boy, who had gotten under the machine, was caught.

To give you a sense of the impact, a hoof-trimming machine weighs nearly two-and-a-half tons.

The boy was flown to Upstate Medical Center to be treated for head injuries.

The Seneca County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate the accident.
