Bridgewater father pleads guilty to beating his 13-month-old son to death

      Brayden Gulbin

A 31-year-old upstate New York man has pleaded guilty in the fatal beating of a 1-year-old boy.

Ian Gulbin pleaded guilty Wednesday in Oneida County Court to second-degree murder and faces 22 years to life in prison.

Gulbin said the baby wouldn't stop crying, and he just snapped when he beat the child to death last November. The boy died of head injuries at the family's home in the rural town of Bridgewater, 45 miles southeast of Syracuse.

Authorities said Gulbin slammed the boy into a hard object, causing skull fractures, internal bleeding and other injuries. Investigators said Gulbin didn't seek medical attention for the boy and left him in a bedroom, where the child eventually died.

The boy was the son of Gulbin's girlfriend.
