The Anheuser-Busch In-Bev brewery has escaped the national trend of decreased beer production thanks to a 24-ounce beer canning line installed last spring that allows them to make more beer.
This year, the Lysander brewery will produce nearly 6 million barrels of beer. Nick Mills, General Manager, says that's a number the brewery hasn't reached in quite some time. The plant also expects to add 25 new jobs.
"We added a new 24 ounce can line last year so we need the staff to maintain this highly efficient line and that's also helped us to drive more volume at this brewery too," says Mills.
Along with the highly efficient 24-ounce canning line, the increase in production is attributed to new and flavored drinks, like the Lime-A-Rita.
The Baldwinsville brewery is the only brewery in the country to make the Strawberita, which hasn't even been released yet. You'll start seeing it in the stores sometime in February.
The new canning line was installed as part of a property tax deal with Onondaga County and Lysander, which will save the brewery six million dollars over the next 15 years.
