Busy spring break travel week kicks off at Hancock Airport
Thousands are expected to pass through Syracuse Hancock Airport this week as the airline industry prepares for one of its busiest seasons, spring break.
Central New Yorkers are packing their bags and heading all around the globe to vacation.
Anna Chyrywaty is headed down south and says she was warned of how busy a travel weekend it was going to be.
She's visiting her aunt and uncle in Florida and showed up to the airport four hours early to avoid the crowds.
Also at the airport was a group of students from Vernon-Verona-Sherrill High School awaiting their flight.
"We're doing a Grand Tour of Italy," the students excitingly said.
They said while abroad safety will be a must, but so will the fun.
"Probably didn't hit me until today how excited about it I was," Katie Musacchio said ahead of their trip to Italy.
Not only are people flying out of Hancock Airport, but many are flying in for Easter weekend.
One couple drove from Owasco to pick up their daughter from the airport and they said it was also a busy day out on the roads.
