The Cicero North-Syracuse Football Program is sponsoring a "Hats for Taylor" day on Thursday December 22nd.
Fleming, a senior at C-NS, passed away after a car crash last Thursday night.
Students at C-NS high school who donate one dollar or more next Thursday will get to wear a hat in school to honor Taylor Fleming, and show support for her family.
Fleming had many friends on the football team. Coach of the team wanted to show the team TMs support and came up with an idea that allows every student at CNS to participate and remember Fleming.
"It's a community thing," says C-NS Head Football Coach Steve Ellis, "but more importantly it's also a deeper thing, because a lot of these guys really knew her really well. She was so connected, we just wanted to do everything we could to help out the family as best we can."
"She was a great person," recalls C-NS senior Warren Miller, "it just feels really good to give back and help out her family though this tough time. She was just always an excited person, she was always bubbly, always bringing out the best in people, and definitely always making people smile."
This past season, football players wore the #11 on their helmets in support of Miranda Merola, a girl who would be a senior this year and passed away 2 years ago. Merola and Fleming are believed to have been friends.
Calling hours for Taylor Fleming were held on Thursday. The funeral will be held on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Margaret TMs Church in Mattydale.
Fleming has donated her organs, which will help approximately 60 people.
Police say the crash is still under investigation.
