Calling hours and funeral services are scheduled for today and tomorrow for a New York State Trooper killed in a crash while on duty last week.
Calling hours for Trooper Amanda Anna are Thursday, May 31 from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Foster Funeral Home, 910 Fay Street in Fulton.
The funeral is scheduled for Friday, June 1 at 10:00 a.m. at the North Syracuse Baptist Church, 420 South Main Street (State Route 11) in North Syracuse.
CNY Central will carry the funeral service live on CNY Central TV (over the air channel 3.3, Time Warner Cable 864, Verizon FiOS 460) and CNYcentral.com. Thousands of police officers, friends, and family are expected to pay their respects, including Governor Andrew Cuomo.
Graveside services at the cemetery are for family and invited guests only.
Because of the funeral, State Police have issued a traffic advisory in North Syracuse that will impact travel from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday. Drivers who use Route 11 from Taft Road to Bear Road should seek an alternate route for their morning commute.
31-year-old Trooper Anna of Liverpool was traveling west on County Route 37 in the Town of Hastings late Friday night when she changed directions in an attempt to stop a violator, according to State Police. She apparently lost control on a curve. The SUV hit a guide rail, went airborne, and flipped several times.
Anna suffered severe head injuries and was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where she died early Saturday morning.
Trooper Anna was a six-year veteran and was assigned to the Hastings barracks. She is survived by a four-year old son, her fianc, and mother and stepfather.
Cuomo has ordered flags at government buildings to fly at half-staff on Friday in honor of Trooper Anna.
