A Rensselaer County man is under arrest, accused of passing phony money to vendors at the New York State Fair.
State Police say 34-year-old James Hines II, of Troy, used 17 counterfeit $20 bills to pay for various items.
Several of the vendors went to troopers to complain.
Hines was sent to the Onondaga County Jail without bail.
He is charged with possession of a forged instrument and criminal possession of a controlled substance, as he was also caught with synthetic marijuana.
Hines is due in court next Wednesday.
