State Troopers in Morrisville and BCI investigated an accident involving a pickup truck and a skateboarder. The skateboarder is in critical condition.
The accident happened at the intersection of State Route 20 and Reservoir Road in the village of Morrisville.
The investigation revealed that James Hotaling, of Morrisville, was driving a 1993 Chevrolet pickup truck westbound on State Route 20 and stopped at the corner of Reservoir Road, waiting for eastbound traffic to pass.
When he turned onto Reservoir Road, he failed to see 30-year-old Edward J. Wasilewski, of 47 Nelson Street in Cazenovia, who was headed eastbound on the south shoulder of Route 20 on a skateboard. Wasilewski was wearing dark clothing.
Wasilewski hit the passenger side of the pickup truck and was ejected.
Wasilewski was treated at the scene by Morrisville Fire Department Rescue and was then transported to the Village of Cazenovia and then transferred to Upstate Hospital by Onondaga County Air One. He remains in critical condition.
A passenger in the pickup truck was transported to Community Memorial Hospital with minor injuries. Hotaling was not injured.
No tickets have been issued. The investigation is ongoing.
