A Central Square man whose license was suspended five times is accused of having cocaine and heroin in his car.
19-year-old Joseph Nowak, of US Rt. 11, was pulled over around 9:05 p.m. on New Year's Eve along US Rt. 11 and Canning Factory Road in the Town of Richland. Oswego County Sheriff's deputies say they found cocaine and heroin in the car. Nowak and his passenger, of 34-year-old Jeffrey Sakowski, of 636 Canning Factory Road in Pulaski, are charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.
Nowak is also charged with inadequate plate lamps and aggravated unlicensed operation for driving with a suspended license. Sakowski is also charged with criminal possession of a weapon for the switchblade knife, deputies say, they found on him.
Both men were arraigned in Scriba Town Court. Nowak was released on his own recognizance. Sakowski was sent to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bail bond. They are both scheduled to appear in Richland Town Court on January 9.
