Chenango County man arrested for destroying property with axe while drunk

A Chenango County man is accused of destroying property in a home with an axe.

Chenango County Sheriff's deputies arrested 39-year-old James Wilber, of Plymouth. Deputies say he was drunk and destroying property at a home with an axe with a child younger than 15 close by. They say Wilber kicked and threw items at the child who had to climb out a window to get away.

Wilber is charged with reckless endangerment, menacing, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. He was arraigned in the Town of Plymouth Court and sent to the Chenango County Correctional Facility on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
