Child gets trapped in mini-van after accident in Lysander

A 6-year-old child was trapped in a mini-van after a crash at about 11:40am on East Mud Lake Road in the Town of Lysander on May 1.

The Onondaga County Sheriffâ??s Office says that a Ford van, driven by 25-year-old Tory Roberts, stopped at a two-way stop sign at the intersection of Church Road and East Mud Lake Road. Roberts did not notice a mini-van, driven by 35-year-old Stephanie Hines, that was entering the intersection. Robertsâ?? van t-boned Hinesâ?? mini-van, over-turning it.

A 6-year-old child became trapped in the mini-van, but was successfully taken out of the vehicle by fire personnel and was taken to University Hospital with a leg injury, according to deputies.

Hines had minor injuries, while Roberts was uninjured, deputies say.

Deputies say Roberts was ticketed for failing to yield right of way.
