Child pornography trial date set for accused killer David Renz

A Federal judge has set a trial date in the child pornography case against David Renz. Renz is the man who is also accused of murdering Liverpool school librarian Lori Bresnahan and raping a ten year old girl last month.

Judge Norman Mordue is scheduled to hear the federal child pornography case on June third. Two weeks ago a grand jury indicted Renz for possession and receipt of child pornography. Prosecutors say Renz used his computer expertise to stash images and video on hard drives of his computers. He was arrested in January.

He had been out on a pre-trial release program when he slipped out of his monitoring bracelet on March 14th. Authorities say he waited at the Great Northern Mall before attacking and abducting Lori Bresnahan and the little girl.

Other legal action on a local or federal level could delay the start of Renz's child pornography trial. An Onondaga County Grand Jury is considering charges of rape, murder and kidnapping against Renz. He is being held in the Onondaga County Justice Center.
