Chittenango man injured in rollover crash on I-81 in Syracuse

A Chittenango man was injured in a one-car rollover crash on I-81 near the Adams Street exit around 11:55 p.m. Sunday night.

Syracuse Police say the Mazda had was travelling northbound on I-81 north when it hit the center median, veered across all three lanes, and struck the guide rail on the east side of the highway. The vehicle went airborne and came to rest rolled over in a grassy area on the east side of the highway.

The car was unoccupied when police arrived, but officers say they located the driver a short distance away. There were no other occupants in the vehicle at the time of the crash.

The driver was identified as a 33-year-old man from Chittenango. Police are not releasing the name of the driver at this time.

Police say the driver was taken to Upstate Hospital with what appeared to be non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation and no tickets have been issued at this time.
