A Cicero man is facing charges after an investigation into break-ins at a Colonial Laundromat and the Sacred Heart Church.

Officers were called to the Colonial Laundromat on 8813 Brewerton Road and found that someone had tried to break into the ATM and back office, but the suspect was unsuccessful.

They were then called to the Sacred Heart Church at 8229 Brewerton Road and found that someone had broken into the church, forced their way into a locked room and stole a leather change purse and a brown wooden cross.

The burglaries took place sometime overnight on May 27.

The investigation led officers to 24-year-old Matthew R. Gushlaw, of Cicero. Gushlaw was arrested and charged with two counts of third degree burglary, two counts of criminal mischief and petit larceny.

He was arraigned and taken to the Justice Center in lieu of $10,000 bail.
