A Clay man who has been on the run since 2010 is back in custody after authorities caught up to him in a London airport on Saturday.
47 year-old Tobias Bowen was charged with felony rape of a 17 year-old and criminal sex act in 2010, and fled to his native country of Liberia after posting bail.
Since he disappeared, Onondaga County Sheriffâ??s detectives assigned to the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task force worked with members of the U.S. Marshals to track down Bowenâ??s movements.
Investigators were able to track his travels to Liberia and the United Kingdom. With help from the U.S. Marshals International Investigations Branch, investigators found out Bowen was landing in London on Saturday, where he was apprehended when he got off the plane.
The Department of State and Department of Justice also assisted in this case. Bowen is awaiting extradition back to the United States where the Sheriffâ??s office says he will face several felony related sex offense charges and an endangering the welfare of a child charge.
