Onondaga County Sheriff Kevin Walsh says that a man that is believed to be responsible for robbing a Sunoco gas station early Sunday morning has been arrested.
Walsh says in a release that 29-year-old Nicholas A. Dâ??Arrigo, of 4177 Choke Cherry Way in Clay, was charged with robbery and assault in connection with the robbery at the convenience store.
Detectives say that a gas station attendant at a nearby Citgo called police after believing that he recognized Dâ??Arrigo as the suspect seen in a surveillance photo that was recently released to the media. He reported information to detective, who apprehended Dâ??Arrigo a short time later.
On Sunday, March 10 at about 6:25 AM, sheriffâ??s deputies went to the gas station at 7549 Oswego Road in the Town of Clay after a report of an armed robbery. It was reported that an unidentified man came into the store and demanded money from the clerk. No weapon was displayed and, after a brief struggle, the suspect left the store with an undisclosed amount of cash.
The clerk was treated at the scene for minor injuries.
Dâ??Arrigo was arraigned in the Town of Clay Court on Wednesday evening and sent to the Justice Center. His bail was set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond. He is due back in Town of Clay Court on March 19.
