State Route 13 in the Village of Sylvan Beach was shut down for several hours Tuesday night after a single car crash.
It happened just after 8 pm when 19-year-old CJ Johnson of Clay was attempting to make a left hand turn from Spencer Ave. on to State Route 13.
Johnson accelerated as he entered the intersection to avoid a crash with a northbound vehicle, but lost control and hit a guard rail, causing his vehicle to overturn.
He was treated for minor injuries at the scene by the Sylvan Beach Fire Department.
Johnson's vehicle was leaking gasoline as it overturned causing a hazard on the roadway. Sand was spread across the road to prevent the spill from entering the drainage system.
Johnson was issued traffic violations for an unsafe turn and operating a motor vehicle with only a learner's permit.
