Clay man that admitted to killing his father to be sentenced

Herman Tolbert Jr.

Herman Tolbert Jr. admitted to killing his father, Herman Sr., with a butcher knife in state supreme court on October 11. He was scheduled to be sentenced on Tuesday.

The District Attorney's Office says the case was adjourned until Friday.

Tolbert Jr. was convicted of stabbing his 68-year-old father to death on August 4, 2011, after an argument at a house on Moses Drive.

Investigators say that Tolbert Jr. forced his way into the home while his mother was away.

Tolbert testified that he was under the influence of hallucinogenic drugs at the time of the murder.
