Clayville woman arrested for drunk driving under Leandra's Law

A woman from Clayville is arrested for a DWI under Leandra's Law.

New Hartford police say they received a call about an accident around 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday. Police say Terri Lane, 52, of Clayville was driving a pickup truck along Genesee Street when she hit a vehicle that was parked along the shoulder of the road.

Police say Lane was drunk behind the wheel with a 3 year old child in the car. The child wasn't hurt. Police charged Lane with driving while intoxicated with a child in the car, which violates Leandra's Law. Leandra's Law imposes tougher penalties for anyone driving drunk with children in the car.

Lane is also charged with driving a motor vehicle while impaired by drugs, endangering the welfare of a child, moving from a lane unsafely and a seatbelt violation for having an unrestrained child in the car.
