Clinton flooded as Oriskany Creek rises

Flooding in Clinton in Oneida County closed several roads and forced the evacuation of a number of homes Friday. Most of the homes that flooded were along College Rd. near Hamilton College.

Oriskany Creek overflowed its banks late Thursday night by Friday morning residents like Brian Rand found their homes surrounded by several feet of water, "I never thought there would be this much water. From midnight to 3:30 it came up three and a half feet," he says.

Officer Charles Kriz with the Town of Kirkland Police says almost every major road in Clinton was closed due to flooding. "Clark Mills a lot of that area is closed off. Rt. 5 is totally underwater. So it's the worst I've ever seen in 25 years," he says.
