CNY Irish Dancers come together to help Boston bombing victims

Irish Dancers at this year's Bob Gabor CNY Feis Irish Dance Festival will have a chance to help the family of one of the victims of the Boston Marathon bombing.

7-year-old Jane Richard lost her leg in the attack. Her 8-year-old brother Martin Richard was one of three people killed in the attack.

Richard's mother was also critically injured in the bombing and she and her mother remain hospitalized, reportedly in critical condition.

Jane Richard has been an Irish dancer since she was just 3-years-old. Dancers in Central New York are reaching out to help one of their own.

Irish Dance teacher Megan Hickey-Miller says this weekend's dance festival at the fairgrounds is part of a nationwide effort by the Irish Dance community to help the Richard Family.

"For me, as a dance teacher, it really tore my heart out. I canâ??t imagine what her family and what she is going through in addition to losing her brother, her mother's also been injured. We hope we can give her a little support," says Hickey-Miller. "We will be accepting donations and we are going to have a table where kids can make cards for Jane and her family to let them know we are thinking about them."

The Bob Gabor CNY Feis Irish Dance Festival gets underway Saturday morning at the fairgrounds. Admission is free.
