Cold hampers search for second body on St. Lawrence Co. property

The deep freeze gripping upstate New York is hampering efforts by investigators to locate a second body believed to be buried on a North Country property where a missing couple used to live.
State police tell the Watertown Daily Times that snow on Saturday and subzero temperatures at night made it difficult for investigators to dig at the property in the St. Lawrence County town of Stockholm.
Investigators began digging last week at the property of a couple in their 80s who haven't been heard from in more than a year. On Friday, police reported they had discovered human remains in a concrete-lined box buried on the rural property.
Investigators say police are waiting until the search for the second body concludes before they send one or both for autopsies.
