Colorado man accused of bringing hand gun into NY after DWI arrest

A Colorado man was charged with criminal possession of a weapon in Oswego County on Monday following a DWI arrest.

26-year-old David L. Janes, of Colorado Springs, Co., was arrested Monday on criminal possession of a weapon charges. The arrest was a result of an investigation into a DWI arrest that happened on Sunday.

Police say the investigation revealed that Janes had been in possession of a 22 caliber semi-automatic hand gun he brought to New York State.

Janes reportedly discarded the weapon into a wooded area before the DWI arrest.

Janes was arraigned before Town of Granby Court and remanded to the Oswego County Correctional Facility in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bail bond. He is scheduled to answer the charge before Town of Granby Court on April 1.
